We have covered news about the AQ Smart AirPlay speaker before, but now the British based company have gone and added a new feature to their wireless SmartSpeaker by allowing you to stream to the unit(s) outside the comfort of your own home network with what they call AQ Direct.
With the new Silverbirch software update, you can now take your AQ SmartSpeaker wherever you go without loosing the ability to stream wirelessly. They have even thrown in support for wireless streaming from Android devices (through the AQ Play app) and support for Windows 7 devices using Play To.
All these streaming options outside the home only makes sense if speaker itself is portable. The AQ SmartSpeaker features a rechargeable battery that provides up to 10-hours of play time between charges. If you need more than that, you can choose to connect with a 3.5mm line in, adding another potential 10-hours to the battery life. You can even pair several of them up together for an even better audio experience, although rest assure, one is enough to get you stereo sound.
