Apple delivers 8.7 million iPhones in Q2 2010 – full results

Apple reported their 2nd quarter 2010 financial results today, reporting that they have sold 10.89 million iPods in the quarter and 8.75 million iPhones, which is an increase of 131% year on year in iPhone sales.

The strong iPhone sales, which are also up from last quarters 8 million iPhones sold, helped Apple deliver revenue of $13.5 billion and a net quarterly profit of $3.07 billion, delivering strong increases in earnings per share, up from $1.79 to $3.33 per diluted share, ensuring there are lots of happy Apple shareholders.

The international market, including the UK, delivered 58% of the Q2 revenue for Apple.

Apples sales of other music related products and services also saw a nice increase of 14% compared to Q1, and up 27% compared to Q2 2009.

Steve Jobs was happy to report on the figures that are the best non-holiday quarter in Apple history, and they have a positive outlook for Q3 following the successful launch of the Apple iPad at the start of April, delivering 400,000 Apple iPads in the first week of sales.

With other new and upgraded products in the pipeline, including the 4th generation iPhone, the future does look bright for Apple.

Apple also sold 2.94 million Macintosh computers in Q2, an uplift of 33% compared to same quarter previous year.
