Apple iPad to launch in 9 more countries and other iPad news

It’s been another busy week for the Apple iPad. Here’s a quick round up of some of the best bits of news.

Apple iPad to launch in 9 new countries this Friday

Originally launched in to the U.S. market and now available in 10 countries altogether including the UK, Germany and France; Apple is dues to increase the iPad’s international distribution further this week.

On Friday 23rd July the iPad  will launch in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore.

A spokesman for Apple would not be drawn on pricing saying, “Apple will announce availability and local pricing for these additional countries at a later date.”

Apple iPad Mini to launch before Christmas

Rumours have been rife this week that 2 smaller versions of the iPad will launch before Christmas and have been dubbed the iPad Mini.

The iPad Mini will feature a 5.6 inch or 7 inch OLED screen and is thought to be a move to take on the profitable hand-held gaming market. If Apple does launch the iPad Mini it will be competing directly with the likes of the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS, which could be a new income stream for Apple.

Although, it makes you wander what will happen to the iPod Touch? Will there be an iPod Touch 4?

Record Revenues for Apple driven by ‘phenomenal’ iPad sales

On Tuesday, Apple released its 3rd quarter fiscal results which revealed that they had generated income of $15.7 billion and profits on $3.25 billion.

This record results was “…driven by strong sales of the very popular iPad”, said a spokesman for Apple.

Tim Cook, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer revealed that “Both the iPad and particularly the iPhone 4 are being sold as fast as we can make them.”
