50,000 Apple iPads in two hours
By admin • Mar 12th, 2010 • Category: Apple iPADAs Apple opened up for pre-ordering of the Apple iPad in the US today, CNN is among the news services reporting that Apple is likely to have sold over 50,000 iPads in the first two hours of pre-order trading.
These figures are not official sales figures from Apple, but rather estimates based on order numbers sent in to Investor Villages AAPL Sanity Board following the opening of pre-order sales of the Apple iPad. The calculations are based on looking at differences in order numbers as sent in by customers who have pre-ordered hte Apple iPad, taking into consideration sales of other Apple products online, which is estimated to somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 units per day. Based on the differences in order numbers over the two year period their spreadsheet calculation has estimated that 51,000 Apple iPads have been sold.
At this rate the estimated 300k of Apple iPads available on 3rd of April will be sold out before the end of the day.
We will come back with more pre-order sales figures in the coming days as Apple releases their official sales figures as well.
