Apple iPad news round up: 2 million sold and Sky iPad tv app

We’ve once again pulled together the hottest Apple iPad news from this week, so you can get all there is to know in our weekly iPad roundup.2 million Apple iPad’s Sold

Just a few weeks after announcing the 1 millionth iPad sale, Apple this week announced that they’ve already sold 2 million iPads.

The popularity of the iPad has caused some problems though, with strong demand in the U.S. market meaning that the international launch was pushed back from April to May leading to many Apple fans outside of the U.S. having to wait much longer than they had originally thought for their iPad.

“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive in a statement yesterday. “We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”

1/3 of PC World stores sold out of iPad

Apart from Apple stores and selected independent Apple distributors, the only other retailers to get their hands on the iPad from the start were PC World and Dixons.

It seems that the popularity of the iPad took PC World a little by surprise though. After the first 3 days of the iPad being on sale in their stores, 1/3 of stores were had already sold out of the iPad.

In a statement on Monday, PC World assured customers that more stock would be in stores later in the week. It does make you think though. Every man and his dog knew how popular the iPad was going to be; had PC World just not been listening to the hype or were Apple just being careful with their stock?

Sky launches Mobile TV App for iPad
This week Sky have launched their Mobile TV App for the iPad.

The App lets iPad owners browse through Sky’s Electronic Program Guide and watch the best Sport and News that Sky has to offer on the iPad’s 9.7inch HD screen.

Existing Sky TV and Sky Player customers can watch the Barclays Premiership, ATP Tennis, PGA Golf and much more on their iPad, for only £6 a month.

Unfortunately non-Sky customers or other types of Sky customers will have to pay a weighty £35 a month for the Sky Mobile App.
