SOUL Electronics has been delivering headphones in partnership with artist Ludacris for a while now, and they are at CES to present new headphones as well as their first ever AirPlay speaker in SOUL Party in a Box.
AirPlay speakers has been a popular category so far at CES with plenty of new systems being announced (finally!), so when reading about the specifications of the SOUL Party in a Box it raises my expectations as to the actual audio performance of this speaker. SOUL has not only added AirPlay streaming to the unit, but also bluetooth and a 5.8GHz two-way transceiver that provides CD-quality uncompressed sound and the ability to pair up several units, even other wireless speakers. SOUL has also been nice enough to add in a good old fashioned docking station for those times when your iOS device needs a charge whilst playing, and it supports docking of the iPad as well as the iPhone and iPod.
The SOUL Party in a Box speaker dock itself is in a black finish with aluminum trimmings. Around the perimeter is the ability to have programmable multi-color lights, to really create that party atmosphere. However it is what is on the inside that counts, and the SOUL PIAB comes with omni-directional hybrid 8 speaker set up, including dual 6.5-inch subwoofers, 3-inch mid-range speakers, and four 1-inch tweeters. Based on these specifications this iPod speaker dock should be in a position to deliver powerful quality sound, and hopefully we will soon find out.
Release date and pricing is yet to be announced for the SOUL Party in a Box speaker dock, but i will be back with an update as soon as it becomes available.
