2009 to be the year for iPhone Application developers

With the iTunes App Store having already reached half a billion downloaded applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch after only 6 months of existence, and over 15,000 applications available through the iTunes App Store, it comes as no surprise that perhaps the most booming economy in 2009 will be the iPhone/iPod Touch Application development.

According to people at the digital innovations consultancy Fjord, 2009 will be the year of mobile applications development, and the winners will be the independent iPhone and Android developers that will be looking at cashing in on the increasing popularity of the iPhone/iPod Touch applications.

With the low cost point of the applications at the iTunes App Store and the more impulse driven purchase pattern created by especially Apple through the applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch, it is predicted that the mobile app market will have a stellar year, despite the overall economic turndown the world is experiencing.

Signs that the development of applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch is becoming an industry of its own is the successfull seminars and training courses for the Apple Software Development Kit held around the world, including a successfull first event in London that will be followed up by more courses in the coming months. You can find out more about iPhone development training courses here.

It is not only the iPhone and iPod Touch that are expected to see a boom in 2009, as it is also expected that Google Android developments will make huge strides in 2009, with new and improved Android handsets expected from HTC and Huawei, and the developments we are seeing in Android applications development, especially coming out of China and other Eastern countries.

We will continue to provide more information about training courses and other useful information for people that are interested in learning more about developing applications for mobile handsets such as the iPhone and iPod Touch.  If you are a developer that is working on a new application, we are more than happy to review and write about it on our site.
